Star Wars Comic Issue 6 December 1977.....ENJOY!!  

In The Sultan's Bought Bride just about finished the book. I'm on the last few pages. Malik let Nicolette know that he did know she wasn't her sister and married her anyway because he had fallen in love with her.  As for Nicolette, she, naturally, fell in love with him and while she previously was against marriage, is eager to become his wife. She's also fallen in love with his country. Which is in Northern Africa just north of the Sahara desert.  I'll probably be finished with it by this evening or sometime tomorrow and will begin the final book in the series. 

Today's paper doll is a Jane Arden from 1933. A different doll from the last one posted. I will be posting her in Bulgaria on the 10th.

THE OLDER I GET....

1982 Katy Keene coloring calendar 

Well here we are in the last month of 2014. The older I get the faster the years zip by. I know it's not possible but I truly wish I could live forever. There is so much of life I haven't experienced yet. Placed I haven't been to, books I haven't read and have yet to read.  Art work I haven't finished and art that I've yet to do. I wish that they could come up with an anti-aging serum so that we could live longer than we do at the present time. I'm not in the least afraid of death, and I would welcome it should that day come, but I would be sad that I haven't done everything I wish to do but didn't have the money for. Some times I really envy the wealthy, NOT because they have money, good God no!  I'm glad they can afford the good things in life, but I envy them their freedom to go where ever they wish, to travel to far off places for as long as their hearts desire without worrying about having to come back when their funds run out. 

In The Sultan's Bought Bride, Fatima, who is Malik's cousin and has been teaching Nicolette Arabic has tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills. She would have succeeded had she not had a fit of conscience and called for help. This attempt has disturbed the King as he had no idea that there had been an "understanding" that Fatima would become the next queen of Baraka.  So Fatima will be going to New York to visit with her Mother and sister and Malik has whisked Nic off to his desert fortress until his aunt and cousins leave. For he doesn't want a confrontation between his aunt and betrothed since she too understood that Malik and Fatima would marry.

Todays paper doll is from 1957 and features a teenage Pug dribbling a basket ball. I have several paper dolls of Pug playing b-ball.

Here is the bottom portion of the coloring calendar. It has been altered from the original to fit the days of the 2014 calendar year and the '82 was removed an the poinsettias replaced it. On the original only one poinsettia was under December.

A BOOTS PAPER DOLL FROM 1941

Another short posting to end off the month of November. In The Sultan's Bought Bride Nicolette still hasn't fessed up to her deception. She wants to tell Malik who she is but is afraid once she does she will be unable to get Chantal and Lilly out of Melio and away from Chantal's over bearing in-laws. Malik, knowing who Nicolette really is helped her celebrate her birthday, though he told her the little celebration he had planed was to help her celebrate her sisters birthday. Nicolette is slowly falling in love with, not only the country and it's people and customs, but with Malik as well. She's finding it increasingly more difficult to lie to him and pretend to be her sister. More and more of her own personality is coming out. 

Today's paper doll is from 1941 and is a friend of Boots. I'm not all that familiar with the characters so don't know her name. I do like that she is a full figured woman rather than a slim one. I also like the fact that, like Boots, she is obviously going somewhere. Probably to the store judging by the purse she is holding.

A JANE ARDEN FROM 1936

Very short positing as I've  not to much to say today.  I'm still reading The Sultan's Bought Bride and as I suspected Malik does know that Nicolette is not her sister. He wonders how far she's going to take the charade she is playing. Nicolette, of course, doesn't realise that Malik knows exactly who she is. She is finding it harder and harder to resist his charm and for his part Malik is finding that he prefers Nicolette's free spirited nature to Chantal's more biddable one. 

The paper doll for today is from 1936. I get the impression that Jane is walking up hill.

FINAL PAGES OF TO THE MOONS OF YAVIN

The final six pages. I will start Issue Number 6 next month as it corresponds with the month it was published in 1977.

I finished The Greek's Royal Mistress and am now reading the first book in the series The Sultan's Bought Bride. I goofed and read the second book before reading the first one. I had the book but for some reason I kept thinking I'd already read the first one.  At any rate, I'm getting

the back story so to speak as to how Nicollette, Chantals sister, met and married Sultan Malik Roman Nuri of the fictional country Baraka. Nicollette has arrived in Baraka and is determined that the marriage will not take place. She'll let it go until just before the ceremony then call it off. It's all a ruse so that her sister doesn't have to marry for convenience again and to get Chantal and her daughter Lilly away from La Croix. 

The King, however, has other ideas. He's got everything mapped out up to the ceremony so that Nicollette (who he thinks his Chantal) doesn't have to worry about anything. He knows that she is up to something by the way she is behaving. Nicolette isn't her sister, who is calm and placid and will go along with what is expected of her. Nicolette, however, is a free spirit. Doesn't want to get married, at least not until she's found "Mr. Right".  And is opinionated. She's also disguised herself as her sister by dying her blond hair brown. Eventually the king will find out about the ruse she is perpetuating, the interesting part is what happens in the interim and how he handles the deception. So far it is pretty good, though I do wish I'd read this book first. The country Baraka is mentioned in another novel by the same author The Sheikh's Virgin. I've read the book but didn't know when I'd read it that there were characters mentioned in one of her previous novels. I try to read them in order whenever possible.
