FAREWELL TO DROOLER, A BOOTS PAPER DOLL FROM 1943 AND A LUCY LEARY PAPER DOLL

Today was a bad day.  I had to say farewell to my cat Drooler.  He had kidney failure caused by the medicine he was given to combat a hyperthyroid.  Until a few months ago, he had no problems with his kidneys at all but he'd stopped eating and  loosing weight.  After a blood test they found he had a hyperthyroid so put him on Methimazole.  One of the side effects is kidney failure according to my vet.  The medicine seemed to help for a few months until he started having trouble urinating last Tuesday.  He had a UTI and the vet put him on Clavamox.  He seemed to improve until a couple of days ago when he started stumbling and falling over.  He was given fluids under the skin yesterday which did seem to perk him up but it was temporary because by this morning he could barely move so I made the ultimate decision to let him rest and not suffer any more. Never an easy decision.  I held him until he drew his last breath.

I shall miss him begging me for steak, salmon, chicken, turkey, hot dogs, pork chops, milk and whipped cream. He was the last of my cats who did beg for people food.  Indy and Kitty never beg for people food and are content with canned cat food and dry cat food.

I will miss you so much Drooler, Drooler.    Miss you lying on my chest or at my side.  Miss rubbing your belly, miss you drooling all over me when I pet you.   But I know you're with your cuddle bunny Sweeie Pie who has been waiting for you

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Didn't want to let January slide by without posting something. So here is a paper doll from 1941.

LUCY ELEANOR LEARY 12/28 /1941

KATY KEENE DIGEST NO 5 MARCH 1989

The above pin up was altered just a bit. In the voice bubble it had the year. I took that out and rearranged it a little. I am working on a coloring page for this one. Probably won't be ready until next year though. :)

COVER OF FILM FUN JANUARY 1929

The above pin up was altered by me. The artist is Enoch Bolles.  Not sure what web page I found this at. If someone knows please leave a comment and I'll link it to the proper source.

ADELA IS MOTHER AND DADDY'S LITTLE SWEETHEART

1950'S?
For todays paper doll, a treat, a Lucy Eleanor Leary paper doll from the 1950's. I don't know what the date on this one is but obviously it was printed in February.  She was from a CD I bought on Ebay of Lucy Leary paper dolls. It was a photograph of the set, very nice photo pretty clear and all but the two end outfits are a little on the dark side. I  could lighten the paper up on the snowsuit without taking the color out of the "fur" so I left it as is. The doll is a little larger than she normally would be. She's around 8 x 11 in size.  I'm hoping someone will offer her up for auction again with a date so I can add the year she was published to the file. I wish I could afford these Lucy Learys but most of the time they go so high that they are beyond what I can afford. I love the "holiday" inspired dolls and try to collect any of them that have my name on the doll.
I also wish more sellers would make CD's of the paper dolls and sell the CD's to those of us who can't afford to by the paper dolls individually.  I know I would buy the CD.  I'm working on a black and white version of Adela and will post it here or next Valentine's Day when it is finished.

Original size

I'm almost finished with Border Bride and still haven't taken to Alpin. I have come to like her maid Elanna who is in love with Saladin, Malcolms secretary.  Elanna is a former African princess who was sold into slavery but who was freed by Alpin. Saladin has fallen in love with Elanna and wants to make her his wife but she keeps pushing him back saying that because of her rank she cannot marry him but wait for someone who is "royalty".  I might mention that Alpin did get what she wanted and Malcolm has forgiven her and she is making plans to leave him. But what he doesn't know is that he can indeed father children.

I have plans to pepper a few posts with Valentine paper dolls. I have quite a few in my collection from ones that I've personally bought, was sent to me through my e-mail or I've garnered on the web.

Til' the next posting....
